Conference on industrial change in EUROPE

Brussels, 18/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is holding a conference on "Industrial change in Europe: current situation, prospects, responsibilities" in Brussels on 20 and 21 November, together with the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Dublin). EESC President, Roger Briesch, Viscount Etienne Davignon (member of the board of directors of the Société Générale de Belgique), and MEP Marie-Hélène Gillig are among the principal speakers.

Work will be divided into three thematic workshops: 1) industrial change in the acceding countries: the most affected sectors; 2) partnerships for development: a regional approach to industrial change; 3) management of skills centred on anticipating the needs of the employment market. A round table on "Managing industrial change in the future" will close the work. (Info: http: //http://www.esc.eu.int ).
