Several Member States request ban on Asian cat and dog fur imports

Brussels, 18/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Monday several Member States requested the European Commission to take action against imports into the Community of dogs and cats from certain Asian countries. During one of the "various points" at the Agricultural Council; Denmark, supported by most delegations drew attention to breeding conditions and slaughter of dogs and cats in certain Asian countries whose furs are then exported to Europe. Denmark denounced the ill treatment on these animals...
