Brussels, 18/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission will be opening its new "European Job Mobility Portal" in Brussels this Friday 19 September, and launching a European information campaign on mobility. The new site will make citizens aware about living and working conditions, opportunities offered by the job market and job vacancies in all Member States of the Union. The ceremony will take place at the sidelines of the conference to be held the same day by the European Commission and the EIB on "Human Resources, Employment, Productivity and Growth". This conference will discuss the importance of human resources in the European economy and thus the need to invest mainly in training and life-long learning. Social Affairs Commissioner, Anna Diamantopoulou, who was planning to visit both events, will not be able to do so because she will be attending the funeral of Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh.
