Prodi and Nielson pledge EU support for establishment of peace-keeping force in southern Africa

Brussels, 10/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - A two-day summit of African Union (AU) heads of state opened in Maputo (Mozambique) on Thursday. The European Commission is participating as an observer. Forty or so African heads of state attended with a view to consolidating and launching the AU first institutions (the AU was formed from the ashes of the African Unity Organisation.
