According to estimates published on 10 July by Eurostat, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the euro zone and that of the European Union (EU15) increased 0.1% over the first quarter 2003 and did not stagnate as an earlier assessment said. Despite this good news, however, the European Commission foresees very low growth for the second and third quarters in the euro zone. At best, it should reach +0.4% and at worst stagnate.
