Strasbourg, 19/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The summer session of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly will open on Monday 23 June with a debate on: (1) agriculture and enlargement of the European Union and on (2) the stakes of Mediterranean agriculture, attended by Commissioner Franz Fischler. On Thursday 26 June, the Assembly is to hold an emergency debate on the Convention on the Future of Europe and the Council of Europe. The Assembly will also examine various reports concerning: - areas where the European Convention on Human Rights cannot be applied (the report which envisages the creation of a Prosecutor with the Court will be discussed on Monday); - the situation in the northern part of Cyprus (Tuesday 24); - the trafficking of organs in Europe (Wednesday 25); - political prisoners in Azerbaijan (Thursday); - the rights of persons detained by the United States in Afghanistan and at Guantanamo Bay (Thursday); - and research on human stem cells (Friday 27 June).
