Joint amendments from three political families - new IGC on ratification procedures in the event of blocking

Brussels, 11/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - For the first time, the leaders of the three main political families at the Convention have proposed joint amendments on Part IV of the future Constitution. Thus, Giuliano Amato (PES), Elmar Brok (EPP) and Andrew Duff (ELDR) propose:

adding to the Constitution a political declaration that would compel Member States "if ratification of the Constitution is blocked by one or more Member States, to hold another IGC to amend the provisions of the EU Treaty...
