27/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Council of Ministers of the EU last week formally agreed on its common position on the Modinis programme (2003-2005), a follow-up to the eEurope action plan. This programme also focuses on the distribution of good practices and improvement of network and information security. It is worth noting that the political agreement on Modinis reached by the Council in March (see EUROPE of 24 March 2003) diverges from the text defended by the European Parliament, particularly with regard to the planned financial envelope (20 million EUR, whereas Commission and Parliament wanted this to be 25 million EUR), and the provisions for comitology.
