In a common counter proposal on the institutions, nine countries (including seven acceding countries) reject the idea of full-time European Council President but Italy agrees with idea - Voggenhuber: European Council to be chaired by the President of the European Commission

Brussels, 08/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - Amendments are mounting up (several hundreds to date, although many of them cover the same ground) ahead of the Convention plenary on 15 and 16 May, which will be looking at draft articles on the institutions, on the Common Foreign and Security Policy and on defence and security.
