European Commission and WTO stress usefulness of conference in Brussels on future of textile industry - worries that other barriers will supplant quotas

Brussels, 08/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The truly "global" conference on the future of the textiles sector, which took place in Brussels at the beginning of the week under the aegis of the European Commission and the World Trade Organisation, allowed some 800 participants, representing governments, industry, trades unions, universities and NGOs from over 70 countries, "to explore practically all possible facets of a commercial world free of the distorting effects of quantitative restrictions"...
