24/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - Speaking at a conference organised in Athens on 20 and 21 February by the International European Movement (IEM) , chaired by Jose Maria Gil-Robles, the Chair of the European Convention, Valery Giscard d'Estaing, according to a press release, welcomed the "positive signs of a European awareness revealed by the project Our Europe, Our future" organised by the IEM in twenty-five European countries. A European awareness already exists, says VGE, whereas he expressed disappointment at Europe's division over the Iraqi crisis. "If today the European citizens would be divided as their governments, we could not hope to progress very far", he considered.
