Brussels, 24/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner Pascal Lamy will visit Washington on 3 and 4 March. The highlights of the visit will probably be the meetings scheduled with Trade Representative Robert Zoellick and two influential Congressmen, Grassley and Thomas, to discuss the multilateral trade negotiations with regard to the Doha agenda (agriculture, services, access to medicine, etc) and the overt and covert trade disputes that have been multiplying in recent years in what is otherwise a close relationship between the two heavyweights world trade system (Foreign Sales Corporations, GMOs, the Byrd Amendment and other aspects of the United States' trade defence policy, including surcharges on steel imports). Europe will return to this.
