Brussels, 05/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - Commissioners Loyola de Palacio (energy) and Philippe Busquin (research) visited, on Tuesday, the European underground research infrastructure for the elimination of nuclear waste into a clay environment (Eurydice), in Mol, in Belgium. One week after the official adoption of two proposals of directive in the nuclear sector, one of which relates to the processing of waste (see EUROPE of 31 January, p.10), the Commissioners were able to form an idea of the progress made within the EU with regards the sustainable management of nuclear waste. EUROPE will come back to this tomorrow.
