Refusal to set up enquiry commission on sinking of Prestige

Strasbourg, 16/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Conference of Presidents has repeated the request for the setting up of a provisional enquiry commission following the accident involving the Prestige. The request by Enrique Baron (President of the PES), Francis Wurtz (President of the GUE/NGL) and the co-Presidents of the Greens/EFA, Daniel Cohn-Bendit and Monica Frassoni received the support of the three groups as well as that of the EDD but clashed with the EPP-ED, ELDR and UEN groups.
