Commission to widen public debate on industrial policy in an Enlarged Europe

Brussels, 16/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - On 21 January the European Commission will be organising a conference on "Industrial Policy in an Enlarged Europe" to be held in Brussels. President Romano Prodi and EU Competitiveness Council President Mr Akis Tsohatzopoulos will open the discussion, starting with the premise that industry matters, and its health and economic sustainability depend on ensuring that industry-wide policy is well-adjusted to sector-specific needs.
