Danish Presidency establishes that a qualified majority supports its latest compromise on ecopoints - Uncertainty over extraordinary Transport Council on 31 December

Brussels, 23/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Danish Presidency established on Friday that there exists a qualified majority in favour of its latest compromise, which provides for percentage ranges for the reduction of ecopoints: 38-39% in 2005 and 34-38% in 2006, the 40% reduction being maintained for 2004 (see also EUROPE of 19 December, page 7 and 18 December, page 8).
