Commission proposes reduction of up to 79% in TACs of cod -60% reductions for whiting, 49% for haddock and 50% for sole

Brussels, 11/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission proposed significant reductions in total allowable catches (TACs) in 2003 in order to come out of the cod crisis and thus fend off a moratorium on fishing this species and other white fish stocks (haddock and whiting).
