11/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to a Eurostat report of 10 December, some 500,000 non-agricultural companies were newly registered in the countries of Central Europe in 2000. The rate of company creation was some 13%, having exceeded 19% in 1995 and 1996. The EU's statistical office stipulates that notable differences were observed between the different countries: in 2000, the rate as higher than 20% in Latvia and Estonia, and below 10% in Lithuania and Slovenia.
