Parliament takes stance in favour of retaining State aid and is opposed to extending Commission powers on stock management

Brussels, 09/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption last week of two reports by Daniel Varela Suanzes-Carpegna (EPP-ED, Spain) on the most controversial reform chapter of Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), namely structural aid, the European Parliament was on the side of the Member States of the "Amis de la Pêche" group in calling for aid to fleet renewal and modernisation to be retained until 2006.
