Commission opens in-depth probe into the acquisition of Telepiù by Newscorp

Brussels, 02/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to start a detailed investigation into the planned acquisition of Italian pay-TV company Telepiù (owned exclusively by Vivendi Universal) by Rupert Murdoch's Australian company Newscorp. The investigation will enable the Commission to further analyse the impact of the merger in Italy and, in particular, to conclude whether the package of undertakings already submitted by Newscorp truly favours the emergence of new...
