Commission calls on Belgium to amend legislation on inheritance and registration taxes

Brussels, 21/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to send Belgium a reasoned opinion, requesting the country to change its legislation on inheritance and registration taxes. The Commission considers this legislation incompatible with the EC Treaty, which guarantees businesses freedom of establishment and salaried and self-employed workers freedom of movement and freedom from discrimination.
