Brussels, 30/08/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Danish Presidency released the following statement on behalf of the European Union: "The EU is seriously concerned at the confirmation by OSCE border monitors of violations of Georgian airspace by military aircraft, and by reports of the bombing of villages in northern Georgia on 22/23 August, resulting in civilian casualties. The EU reiterates its call for all parties in the region to exercise restraint and to respect the territorial integrity of their neighbours. It calls on all interested parties to work together in a spirit of transparency and co-operation in addressing each other's security concerns. The EU expects Georgia to make serious efforts to restore order in the Pankisi Valley."
