Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and Bulgaria allowed to continue with public aid for restructuring their steel industries

Brussels, 02/08/2002 (Agence Europe) - This week the EU Council formally approved (by written procedure) the decision to extend the period in which Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Romania can grant public aid to restructure their steel industries, by eight years (until accession). The European agreements with these counties all include a protocol on steel: one of the protocol provisions stipulates that for 5 years after the entry into force of the agreements, the candidate countries...
