The British telecoms equipment maker MARCONI is to close STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS, its defence radio business to FINMECCANICA for EUR 610 million. Defence radio activities employ 4,000 people and had a turnover £ 50 million in the April to June quarter of 2002.
