Work on future Serbia and Montenegro State must be accelerated, says Solana

Belgrade, 26/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - After his meeting on Thursday in Belgrade with the Yugoslav and Montenegrin Presidents, Kostunica and Djukabnovic, and the Serb Prime Minister, Djindjic, CFSP High Representative Javier Solana told the press that "important progress has been made on the economic aspect of the agreement" with a view to establishing the future State of Serbia and Montenegro, but that "on the political side we have to work in a more rapid manner" (see EUROPE of 25 July, p.4). "I have the commitment of everybody to do as much as possible to finish the political aspect of the reform of the constitution. The sooner, the better", he added. The constitutional committee formed of Serb and Montenegrin representatives responsible for making proposals on the Constitutional Charter of the future State, presented Mr Solana with two different documents.
