Commission asks Court of Justice to fine France around EUR 158.250 a day over British beef without delay

Brussels, 17/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission decided to refer France to the Court of Justice for a second time for non-compliance with the order to lift its embargo on imports of British beef. After sending France a Reasoned Opinion at the end of June that has not been replied to, the Commission is calling on the Court to fine France EUR 158,250 a day (as from the time the Court issues its second ruling) for non-compliance with European law and the previous...
