In Paris, Fischler defends "modulation" idea and justifies proposed cut in cereal intervention price

Brussels, 17/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Visiting Paris to present and explain his proposed mid-term review of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), Commissioner Franz Fischler explained that the options for using the amounts saved through compulsory aid "modulation" would have to be relaxed, which should make it possible to resolve the practical problems that led France to suspend this mechanism a few weeks ago that makes it possible to strengthen the rural development policy.
