Brussels, 26/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - Joachim Wuermeling, MEP and Member of the European Convention, presented a contribution to the Convention suggesting that, "We should once go through the Treaties chapter by chapter to check whether adjustments are necessary". H also called for a "screening, which could be done by the Christophersen working-group (on the complementary competencies: Editor's note). European integration needed to be flexible, explained the CSU MP, who considered, nevertheless, that current provisions were "vague and general". He also stated that this resulted in no-one knowing who was responsible for what in Europe.
In another contribution to the Convention, Elmar Brock, Joachim Wuermeling, Peter Altmeier, Reinhard Rack, Alain Lamassoure and Inigo Mendez de Vigo called for the setting up of a "Competence Chamber" at the EU Court of Justice, with a referral procedure initiated by the Commission, "a significant minority at the Council, the European Parliament and the Committee of the Regions/Regions with legislative competencies".
