01/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - The new Co-ordinator for the Stability Pact in the Balkans, Erhard Busek, welcomes the good level of the return of refugees to their homes, in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in Croatia, in 2001 (90,000 and 23,000 respectively, according to figures of the Stability Pact). For him, this "success" demonstrates that the Stability Pact has played its role, by "matching key players and donors". Erhard Busek, who was speaking on Wednesday on the occasion of a meeting in Geneva with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Ruud Lubbers, regretted that international support for the return of refugees had "declined". The Co-ordinator of the Stability Pact calls for these countries to at least have access to loans from the international community to help them succeed in their programmes for the return of refugees.
