Accession negotiations the focus of Commission regional policy work this year - preparation of candidate countries - important reports on 30 January on budget and reform

Brussels, 16/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - Preparation for enlargement will be the focus of work by the European Commission relating to regional policy this year, perhaps even more than the debate on reform of regional policy after 2006, which will enter into a more decisive phase in 2003. A first major date for these two subjects will be the College of Commissioners' meeting on 30 January, when a long-awaited document on the cost of enlargement and an updated version of the Report on Cohesion...
