Ban on export of pigs from Catalonia

Brussels, 06/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the Commission banned util the end of the year exports of live pigs and pig sperm, ovule and embryo from the autonomous community of Catalonia (Spain), following the discovery of a new outbreak of classic swine fever, that appeared two weeks following the expiry of the last restrictive measures that affected the country for over six months. The Standing Veterinary Committee (SVC) will discuss the situation at its meeting of 18-19 December...
