06/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - According to diplomatic sources, the EU Council President Louis Michel told the US Secretary of State on Thursday that he was concerned about the way the United States is treating Yasser Arafat, since the last escalation of violence in the Middle East. Mr Michel met Mr Powell before the meeting of the North Atlantic Council and before a meeting of the EU and NATO Foreign Ministers, on Thursday evening in Brussels.
