Brussels, 06/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - As we announced, the European Parliament has decided to hold a very short special session, in Brussels in the afternoon of 17 December, on the European Council of Laeken, so as to not to have to wait, for the assessment of this summit and of the Belgian Presidency of the Union Council, for the plenary session to be held in Strasbourg from 14 to 17 January and in which the Spanish Presidency will present its programme for the first half of 2002.
The special session, which is to last from 15.00 hrs. to 18.30 hrs., will begin with a report by Guy Verhofstadt and a statement by Romano Prodi on the European Council of Laeken, followed by a statement by Louis Michel on the six months of the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council.
