Pat Cox hopes to become President of a parliament capable of being "strategic"

Brussels, 29/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - Pat Cox, from Ireland, MEP since 1989 and President of the Liberal and Democrat Group since 1998, is in the running to take over from Nicole Fontaine as President of the European Parliament for the second half of the current Parliament's mandate. He aspires to make the Parliament more aware of the political role that it can play during this critical period. The Parliament should above all, he told several journalists, be able to exert "real influence"...
