Brussels, 29/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Commission authorised the granting of an aid of EUR 2.045 million to the German company Telux Spezialglas GmbH, established in Weisswasser, in the Land of Saxony. As it was created in a planned economy, it faced numerous difficulties during its privatisation, and a restructuring plan had been implemented. In December 2000, Germany had informed the Commission that the company had received a loan of EUR 2.045 million from the BvS, the German office responsible for privatisation. The aid, which was not notified at the time, should have been examined in the light of the guidelines for safeguard and restructuring aids for companies in difficulty. The Commission felt that the conditions had been fulfilled: the company being truly in difficulty, a restructuring plan had been presented, the long-term viability of the company had been restored, the aid did not cause any undue distortions to competition and the contribution by a private investor was significant.
