Brussels, 16/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, CFSP High Representative Javier Solana warmly welcomed the vote by the Parliament of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) that same morning on constitutional amendments required by the Ohrid framework agreement. "This courageous decision shows the strength of the Macedonian democratic institutions, as well as the determination of the representatives of the people to use peaceful means to promote stability and prosperity. (…) The European Union will now redouble its efforts in supporting the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement and will give priority to help bringing Macedonia closer to the EU, as foreseen in the Stabilisation and Association Agreement", Mr Solana said in a statement.
