Parliament's go-ahead for extension of temporary defence mechanism to the end of 2003

Strasbourg, 15/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - Consulted in a single reading on Thursday, the European Parliament gave its go-ahead for the European Commission's proposal to set up a temporary defence mechanisms for European shipyards facing an uneven playing field with regard to South Korean shipyards. The plenary rejected by 114 to 367 the rapporteur, Danish Liberal Karin Riis-Joergensen's proposal to send the proposal back to the Economic and Monetary Committee, but decided by 364 to 100 with...
