TRACTEBEL DE MEXICO, North American subsidiary of the Belgian firm TRACTEBEL (French group SUEZ), has taken close to an 80% stake in the electricity and steam production plants located close to Monterrey, north eastern Mexico. "Worth $189 million, the natural gas co-generation plant is currently under construction. It is scheduled to be put into service for end-2002", says TRACTEBEL. The American firm ENRON owns the remaining 20%.
