United Kingdom in Commission's firing line for non-compliance with Court judgement on nitrate pollution in water

Brussels, 05/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to send the United Kingdom a letter of formal notice for failure to take the necessary measures to comply with judgements of the Court of Justice regarding the December 2000 Nitrates Directive (91/676/EEC, concerning the United Kingdom's failure properly and comprehensively to identify ground waters and surface freshwaters affected by nitrate pollution.
