25/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament rapporteur on money laundering, Klaus-Heiner Lehne, told Reuters in Rome (where he was attending an EP study day) that the Council and Parliament were very close to a conciliation agreement and that a compromise would enable lawyers to retain professional confidentiality in areas other than money laundering. Mr Lehne earlier protested in a communiqué at the EP being accused of "blocking" the dossier (see other article on p.10).
