20/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of the report by Carlos Coelho (EPP/ED, Portugal) on the crossing of external borders, the EP: (1) deplores the lack of transparency in police and judicial cooperation; (2) calls on the United Kingdom and Ireland to fully adopt the Schengen acquis; and (3) insists that the Schengen Information System be transformed into an agency and that a Community system grouping SIS, Europol and the Customs Information System be created.
