ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) breweries

German brewer BECK (turnover DM 1.66 billion in 2000 with 570 million litres of unsold beer) announced the sale of all of its activities in order to ensure the company continues. BECK did not mention price for all the activities that it planned to sell but specialists estimate their value at around one billion euros. BECK has designated as potential suitors the American firm ANHEUSER-BUSCH, British SCOTTISH AND NEWCASTLE, Belgian INTERBREW and South African SAB - SOUTH AFRICAN BREWERY.
