Paris, 13/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - Around 300 parliamentarians of the 52 states belonging to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) adopted, on 11 July in Paris, the Paris Declaration in which the OSCE Assembly insists above all on greater transparency on the part of the Council and calls on the permanent OSCE Council to make its meetings public. The Assembly also confirmed the appointment of Romanian parliamentarian Adrian Severine as its president for one year.
The Declaration of Paris calls, moreover, for the possibility that the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) should be made available to the OSCE and to the United Nations for crisis management activities and peace-keeping.
