Paris, 13/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - During a meeting in Paris on 10 July, the President of the National Assembly, Raymond Foni, and the President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Thierse, established a timetable of meetings between the bodies of the two Chambers, that should provide a framework for the dialogue on the new EU architecture. The Bundestag's European Affairs Committee and the European Union delegation of the French National Assembly will therefore meet on 19 September in Paris to draw up a proposal for a joint declaration. The text will be examined on 15 October in Berlin by the Presidencies of the National Assembly and the Bundestag, and the joint statement should be adopted on 10 December in Paris. The Paris-Berlin parliamentary debate will result in a joint session of the Bundestag and the French National Assembly in 2003, whereby the French and German representatives hope to contribute to preparation of the Intergovernmental Conference on revision of the Treaty of Nice, scheduled for 2004.
