Special Agriculture Committee reaches compromise solution on olive oil denominations - question of extending aid regime should be settled during next Council

Brussels, 08/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The representatives of Member States, meeting at the Special Agriculture Committee (SAC), found common ground on certain technical aspects of the European Commission's proposal (presented on 21 December) on the common market organisation for olive oil. The most controversial aspect, however, namely the duration for renewal of the aid regime, should be settled at the level of the Council of Agriculture Ministers (19/20 June).
