Brussels, 02/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised a merger between the American oil companies Chevron Corp. and Texaco Inc, even if this operation gives rise to the fourth largest oil and gas producing company in the world, the number of sector where the activities of these companies overlaps in Europe is limited and, when this is the case (additives for lubricants), the market shares remain below 15%.
