02/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The economic sentiment indicator recorded a fall of 0.6 points in February in the EU, with a more moderate drop in the Euro zone, according to figures rendered public by the European Commission's Directorate General Economic and Financial Affairs on 2 March. The industrial confidence indicator dropped 2 points. It is the construction sector that was the least optimistic in February, with a decrease of 2 points in the EU and 3 points in the euro zone, which undermines the good January results. The retail trade confidence indicator, on the other hand, consolidated its good performances of January and remains at the level of 7 points above the long term average in both the EU and the euro zone.
