02/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The 27 countries and 12 international organisations meeting in Brussels on 1 March as "consultative group for Albania", on the invitation of the European Commission and the World Bank, welcomed progress achieved by the country, while recalling the reforms that remained to be undertaken and warning Albania of the risk incurred by the crisis in the electricity sector. The meeting - which was a donor conference (no grant of loan was announced) - served to discuss the follow-up to provide the international community's aid to Albania. The Albanian delegation reiterated the country's commitment to adopting, by June, a strategy for growth and the reduction of poverty (drawn up by Albania and the World Bank). This three year programme will contribute towards the work done by Albania to reach an Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU, adds the Joint World Bank/European Commission Committee for South Eastern Europe.
