Brussels, 02/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Ambassador Roberto Nigido will take over from Ambassador Silvio Fagiolo as Italian Permanent Representative to the European Union. Mr Nigido had been, from the beginning of his career, posted in Brussels, where he returned in 1984 to, first, be the chief advisor and the advisory Minister to the Italian Permanent Representation, until 1988 when he was then co-ordinator for European issues with the Directorate General for Economic Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and Director General for Economic Affairs from 1993 to 1996. Between 1996 and 1998, he was diplomatic advisor to the Prime Minister and, since 1998, he was Ambassador to Ottawa.
