The European Movement Germany is organising, next 23 and 24 March in Brussels, a colloquium on the theme European company ethics in competition. The participants will discuss, European company ethics and the opportunity for its creation in the framework of global competition. The debate, in French and German with simultaneous translation, will be centred around the decisions by companies and will raise, for example, the criteria according to which it is suitable to judge a company that takes its decision on the basis of values, the relationship between the European company model and other points of view on competition, the relationship between competitiveness and company ethics. Mrs Monika Wulf-Mathies, President of the European Movement Germany, will introduce the debates on 23 March. Taking part will be Mr Joachim v. Harbou from the DERSDNER BANK (ethical competence with regards to globalisation), Mr Etienne Davignon President of the Societe General in Belgium (global challenges for European culture) and Mr Goke Frerichs, President of the Economic and Social Committee (ESC) (for a culture of compassion and understanding). On 24 March three discussion workshops on the following themes: How to measure the value of a European company?, with the participation of Mr Seigried Guterman (Dresdner Bank), Mr Guido Eilenberger (University of Rostock), Mr Joost van Iersel (Hague Chamber of Commerce), Mr Peter Koslowski (Centre for economic ethics in Hanover), Mr Franz Schoser (German Chamber of Industries and Commerce) and Mr Felix Schulz (European Movement Germany); Are there common points in the diversity of company cultures in Europe?, with the participation of Mr Ferdinando Riccardi (Agence Europe), Mr Joachim Wishermann (Franco-German Chamber of Commerce), Mr Francois Balfoil (Institute for Policy Studies Grenoble), Mr Peter Korn (German Chamber of Industries and Commerce in Brussels), Mr Hans-Christian Kruger (Deputy Secretary General at the Council of Europe) and Mr Ferdinand Kinsky (International Centre for European Training); Does a European company culture based on values have a chance in global competition?, with the participation of Mr Hertmut Marhold (European Movement Germany), Mr Andrew Duff (MEP), Mr Fred Chaffart (Former ETUC Secretary General), Mr Luc Rifflet (Belgian Ambassador to the OECD) and Mr Jean Touscoz (University of Nice).
